Here’s a new take on packaging design as Lay’s makes it to Paris Fashion Week in collaboration with Balenciaga.
Spanish luxury brand, Balenciaga form an unlikely but inventive collaboration with US-based crisp giants Lay’s to create a leather bag that resembles a packet of Lay’s chips in three different variants as part of the Summer 23 Collection launch showcased at the Paris Fashion Week.
The news was released by the brand’s creative director, Dema Gvasalia sharing images of the latest collection captioned ‘Balenciaga’s next must-have Lay’s branded bag’ on Instagram. A brand commonly known for going beyond the imagination in fashion, Balenciaga’s eccentric design of the Lay’s bag boasts intricate pack details akin to a simple packet of chips complete with a zipper and claims to be selling at a whopping $1800.
Despite mixed emotions towards the bag, the Blanciage X Lay’s bag was the talk of Paris Fashion Week. The overall visual identity of the bag features traditional Lay’s colours with a red logo displaying both brand names with Lay’s in its traditional position while Balenciaga is featured in the flavour’s typography to maintain consistency in Lay’s packaging design.
The Georgian designer stated that the design cannot be explained as it is an expression of the state of mind.
